Overview & Description: Provide Functional Family Therapy® and other assigned services to families and clients.
Therapist are expected to model through their behaviors and attitudes the values that reflect and are consistent with those outlined in the Policy and Procedures guides, ethics agreement, training materials, of the agency. All Therapist are encouraged to develop professional networks in their state and local communities that help to further family centered practice. Certification in Functional Family Therapy (FFT) training program is required to receive designation in advanced FFT positions. Additional certification may be required in order to provide FFT for specialty populations or programs.
The primary services are to be provided via direct involvement with the client and other family members. The FFT Clinician is required to provide Functional Family Treatment and other assigned family preservation services or support services including assessments.
The basic requirements associated with this primary responsibility are as follows:
Provision of the assigned treatment model per the protocol or requirements of the model, to include but not limited to:
-Effective joining with the family and initiation of services including provision of services with families defined as resistant or oppositional to services
-Provide on-call support for all assigned families
-Provision of family and / or individual sessions per the requirements of the assigned treatment model
-Provision of the services with a variance of days / hours designed to respond to the client/family needs/schedule
-Observation of appropriate personal and professional boundaries and adhere to FFT and professional code of ethics
-Provision of a service or treatment plan that is based on an effective assessment.
-Provision of a closure and aftercare plan for each family / client
-Provision of the quantity of sessions assessed as needed and appropriately authorized
-Maintain required confidentiality regarding client case materials in compliance with IFCS and HIPAA standards.
-Provide the required contact/daily reporting data, reports, plans of service or treatment, and court reports, etc. on time and in a form that meets the needs of the family, referring agency and/or state or federal standards and requirements of FFT.
-Build and maintain positive relationships with personnel from referring / collateral agencies.
-Adherence to the FFT protocol regarding collateral contact is expected regardless of the model of treatment provided.
-Participate in individual and team supervision as scheduled – usually weekly.
-Provide specialist services per assignment or direction.
-Participation in FFT Structural Family Assessments.
Related Master’s level degree or Bachelor’s degree in social work, health, human services, psychology or related field required.
Maintain flexibility in scheduling due to the nature of the workflow and level of responsibility – some evenings and weekends may be required.
Valid driver’s license and ability to pass Motor Vehicle Record clearance
Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar, and the ability to apply this to writing letters, treatment plans, etc.
Ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities, including documentation, meeting with clients for the required hours each week, attending staff meetings and supervision, and other tasks as assigned
Maintain professionalism regarding demeanor, dress, communication, style, and overall manner
