Residential Group Home Shift Supervisor- Adolescent Female Facility

The Residential Shift Supervisor provides appropriate role modeling in a trauma-informed therapeutic environment that promotes the physical, mental and behavioral health of each resident and assists them in developing life skills. The Residential Shift Supervisor works as a part of a collaborative trauma informed therapeutic team, establishing open communications and support among co-workers. The team is comprised of clinical and non-clinical staff in the residential program.  The Residential Shift Supervisor is responsible for providing on-site management assistance to the Program Manager in quality assurance program services, personnel and administration. The Residential Shift Supervisor at Child & Family Services is directly accountable to the Program Manager who provides supervision and training.  The Residential Shift Supervisor is a non-exempt, hourly employee who at all times abides by the Agency’s confidential policies. Due to the nature of the workflow and level of responsibility the Residential Shift Supervisor maintains a flexible schedule, which may go beyond a forty-hour week. Due to the nature of the work and client needs, the Residential Shift Supervisor is considered a “direct care position.”

Position Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall care of the residents; i.e. health and hygiene, education and social/emotional well-being while on duty or otherwise with clients in any off-shift or volunteer capacity.
  • Cultivate a trauma-informed environment by: understanding the short and long-term impacts of trauma and neglect; responding to the residents and their family/caretakers with empathy, sensitivity, and respect and; maintaining trauma-sensitive language and approaches in all interactions.
  • Collaborate in a consistent manner, as a member of the therapeutic staff team in exercising responsibilities and in such a way as to reinforce the residential philosophy and program protocols.
  • Supervise the interactions and activities of staff and residents. Ensure Active engagement in day-to-day structured and unstructured recreational activities, psycho educational groups, regular resident house meetings and life skill development and maintenance.
  • Implement both agency and individualized behavior management practices utilizing appropriate trauma-sensitive techniques to monitor, assess and document situations and client status.
  • Implement crisis intervention techniques in accordance with policy, procedure and agency training and ensure that non-violent physical interventions are implemented only in the event that a client is an immediate risk to self or others.

The Shift Supervisor must be available Evenings (4pm-12am) & Weekends. Shift Supervisors are also included in an On-Call rotation schedule, meaning they must have flexibility to work all shifts, including Overnights (12am-8am).


Bachelor’s degree in social work, health, human services, education, psychology or related field + 6months of human service experience, particularly with children and/or adolescents +supervisory experience in any field preferred, or Associates degree or 2 years of equivalent college experience + 12 months of human service experience, particularly with children and/or adolescents + supervisory experience in any field preferred, or High School diploma + 18 months of human service experience, particularly with children and/or adolescents + supervisory experience in any field preferred
Must be at least 21 years old

Must meet the following driving standards:

  • Must hold a valid driver’s license for at least 3 years.
  • Does not have more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years
  • Does not have more than one (1) at fault accident in the last three (3) years
  • Does not have any Serious Violation in the last three years
